Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)

74% Rotten Tomatoes
6.8/10 IMDb

I had not watched the first Anchorman before watching Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. However, that didn’t not take anything away from my movie experience. Anchorman 2 was filled with great, belly laughs. I’ve heard some people say that they didn’t enjoy this movie very much, but I’m going to disagree with those people. Most likely the reason why they didn’t enjoy this film is because this “type” of movie isn’t for them. It’s a comedy, albeit a very slapstick comedy. My family and I really enjoy slapstick comedies; slapstick comedies are funny,  keep the mood light.

In the beginning we’re introduced to Ron Burgundy’s downward spiral of a life, and he comes to the conclusion that he needs to get back together with his old news team and take over the news channel through a controversial fashion. Ron and his hilarious team of news reporters devise “new” news tactics such as delivering: nonsense news, broadcasting a live police chase, and a very (inappropriately) funny segment on “the female anatomy”.

Anchorman 2 probably earned its R-rating through its use of countless crude sexual jokes; jokes made to induce belly laughs and make you go “..Did they just say that?”. This is one example why people, who are not very open-minded, disliked this movie.

And let me just say, the cast of Anchorman 2 is just fabulous. From Will Ferrell, to Steve Carrell, to Paul Rudd, to David Koechner; four great comedians.Anchorman #2

I had decided to watch a slapstick comedy because of all of the things going on in life. Recently a fellow classmate of ours passed away, causing our teacher to give us a moment to reflect on life. During times like these, I just want to sit down and enjoy my free time with a “nonsense” movie just to clear the mind. That’s  the reason why I enjoy watching movies and television so much; when you’re really into a movie or TV show, your mind wanders away from your problems and focuses on the television screen.
