Knocked Up (2007)

91% Rotten Tomatoes
7.1/10 IMDb

I’m writing about Knocked Up, which is several years old, to show my appreciation for the brilliant actors, in this movie. Knocked Up has a very unconventional plot: a slacker, stoner guy gets a career-minded girl pregnant. As the plot unfolds, hilarity ensues.

Film Title: Knocked Up

The high ratings of this movie surprised me; not because this movie isn’t great (I love this movie), but because movies with a plot like this typically don’t receive high ratings. However, something must have been done right to earn this movie its high ratings. Let’s begin with the cast: Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, Martin Starr, Charlyne Yi, and Jonah Hill; most of these actors are known for their talents in comedy. But an all-star cast doesn’t always mean the movie will always be great. The fact that this movie left some of the script to improvisation may have been one of several factors that made this movie such a success. (There are several deleted scenes that are widely popular) Ken Jeong’s deleted scene & Jonah Hill’s deleted scene

Improvisation is really important in life, sometimes things are just going to spur out of the sky and you’ll have to figure out a way to fix it.  Something we recently started doing in class are improvised presentations. Sometimes when you work for a business or company, your boss or employer may tell you that they want you to speak at a meeting, or present something. This is where improv plays a key role in our life, whether its a job presentation or improvising to figure out a solution to a problem.
